Insomnia causes

Insomnia, which is the inability to go to or stay asleep, was believed to be caused by psychological reasons such as stress or anxiety, Express reported.

A new research study found that information may not be accurate as they concluded that the cause of insomnia might be genetic. The study found that there are seven risk genes for insomnia.

Before this study, most doctors believed that the primary cause of insomnia was depression, anxiety, or stress.

The research found that those that have Periodic Limb Movements of Sleep (PLMS) or Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) may be predisposed for insomnia. However, the research found that just having one of these conditions does not guarantee that you will suffer from insomnia.

While they found that genetics played a role in insomnia, anxiety and stress still is a significant risk factor. Those with anxiety disorders, depression, neuroticism or stressful living environment often suffer from trouble sleeping.
